Kids’ AI & Coding Classes · North Shore, Auckland

Hi, I’m Hanson.

I help kids aged 8–14 build with AI, not just use it — in small, hands-on Saturday groups here on Auckland’s North Shore.

Young AI Builder Pathway

From Scratch to AI agents, for ages 8–14

A small-group Saturday journey through Scratch, Python, machine learning, and real AI agent projects — watch it build.

  1. Stage 1

    Foundations

    Ages 8–11

Scratch, then training real machine-learning models with Teachable Machine.

  2. Stage 2

    Code

    Ages 11–13

Python — from first script to real AI apps that call APIs and use trained models.

  3. Stage 3

    Agents

    Ages 13–14

Build AI assistants and tools with code — the destination of the pathway.

AI literacy— how it works, prompting, bias, and safe use — is woven through every stage, not a separate class.
Saturday groups

Two Saturday groups, placed by readiness

Each group enters the pathway at a different stage. After your AI Discovery Session, I’ll recommend the right one.

Foundation Group

Starting at Stage 1: Foundations

Ages 8–11 · Forming now

Building from Scratch. Kids learn loops, variables, conditionals, and debugging through games and stories — the thinking habits AI needs.

Focus areas
  • Scratch games, animation, and interactive stories
  • Loops, variables, conditionals, and debugging
  • Clear thinking about how AI learns and where it fails

Builder Group

Starting at Stage 2: Code

Ages 11–14 · Forming now

Building with Python. Kids learn Python fundamentals, train machine-learning models, and call AI APIs to ship real apps.

Focus areas
  • Python fundamentals, functions, and data structures
  • Machine-learning projects and AI-powered apps

Why me, why now

I’m a software engineer who builds with AI for a living — so I teach kids how it really works, not just which buttons to press.

I’m based in Torbay on Auckland’s North Shore, and I’ve spent years building apps, working with AI, and staying close to where the technology is actually heading.

That hands-on depth is what I bring to the classroom — helping kids understand how AI thinks, where it fails, and how to work alongside it with genuine confidence.

This started at home. When my two daughters started asking questions about AI — what it is, whether it will take jobs, if it can think — I realised the answers they were getting from school weren’t enough. So I started teaching them myself. This work is an extension of that.

Every generation has a skill that separates those who lead from those who get left behind. For our kids, that skill is knowing how to think alongside AI.School isn’t teaching it fast enough. I am.
